This lecture series discusses e-commerce policy as well national and international sources of e-commerce law. It then outlines the basic principles that enable electronic contracts before proceeding to consider the law of contract with specific reference to online and automated transactions. It then summarises the relevant consumer protection provisions in the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act and the Consumer Protection Act. Particular attention is paid to the provisions relating to online auctions. The final section canvasses the regulation of advertising and marketing, with specific emphasis on spam.
