Zackie Achmat on Marx and Lincoln

On Thursday 13 August AIDS activist Zackie Achmat will give a free public lecture on The Communist Manifesto by Karl Marx and The Gettysburg Address by Abraham Lincoln as part of the Great Texts / Big Questions public lecture series presented by the Gordon Institute for Performing and Creative Arts (GIPCA) at the University of Cape Town (UCT).
“During his talk Zackie may reformulate how the liberal, left-wing ideals of the past are relevant today,” said novelist and academic Imraan Coovadia, co-ordinator of the series.
