On Thursday 1October the Gordon Institute for Performing and Creative Arts (GIPCA) Great Texts / Big Questions lecture will be Mamphela Ramphele who will discuss “To what extent has our transformation process embraced the intimate in public discourse?”. The suggested background reading is Jonathan Jansen’s Knowledge in the Blood.
Mamphela Ramphele, former Vice-Chancellor of UCT and director of the World Bank, is an academic, author and medical doctor. Her involvement in political activism and academic research has positioned her as a highly knowledgeable and respected thought leader. Her Great Texts / Big Questions lecture will be introduced by UCT’s Vice Chancellor Max Price.
It is not surprising that she has chosen to discuss the work of another eminent academic, Jansen, who deals with how South African students are influenced by a past they never lived and the social and political change after apartheid within universities.
