Sumemr School lecture presented by Yaliwe Clarke (African Gender Institute, University of Cape Town)
This lecture deals with issues of sexual violence against women in African militarised conflicts. It will provide a feminist critique of mainstream approaches to peace and security, drawing on the work of women’s rights activists across the continent and from the work of the Isis-Women’s International Cross-Cultural Exchange (Isis-WICCE) in Uganda, an African-based international organisation that documents African women’s experiences of war and peace.
